In the comics, I'm more of a trench coat/t-shirt guy, rather than the classic battle suit with white gloves and matching boots.
That just looks awesome.
Not so much.
But in the movies, it's the opposite. They took the battle suit and changed it up a bit. I don't think white gloves and white boots would be the best colors to hide in the darkness with.
They added the neck guard and it makes sense because he's surrounded by bullets throughout the movie. And Jane's t-shirt/trench coat look just wasn't gritty enough.
But maybe that's because the MAX illustrators just know how to make something so simple so cool. And I'd like to add that I give some major props to the people who designed the WZ costume, as we saw a bandolier for the skull's teath.

Yeah, but that photo of Jane isn't even from the movie and he wore just a vest with the skull painted on it when he went to work. He maybe wore the trench coat/skull combo twice in the movie, and it looked fine.
